Hi there – this is Beth, from Beth’s Bakes!
Here’s a little info about me and how Beth’s Bakes has come to be…
In 2019 I moved to the UK from the States with my partner, Zack, and we enjoyed settling into our charming new hometown of Royal Leamington Spa. And I thought, it’s not quite enough change to relocate halfway across the world, I think I should also completely change careers and start my own business! Back in America I worked professionally in theatre with my side passion being my baking. And in 2020 I decided to finally take the big jump into turning my love for baking into more! Then a little thing called a world pandemic happened and everything went a little topsy turvy.
To make a long story a little shorter, we moved back to America at the end of 2021 and here we are now all settled into our newest hometown of Madison, Wisconsin! My now husband Zack and our pawsome Bulgarian rescue dog Sammiches are loving Wisconsin, and I am so excited to start this new chapter of Beth’s Bakes. 💜
So, my little business is located in Madison, Wisconsin – which is the state capitol of Wisconsin, the 2nd biggest city in Wisconsin, and the 82nd biggest city in America! Currently, I am only able to supply my products within the United States. All of my cookies can be shipped all over the country! For now – my cakes, cupcakes, and pies are only available locally.
Every bake is made fresh from scratch with quality ingredients. And, whenever possible, they are made from products from the beautiful state of Wisconsin! My business is fully insured and I also have a Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene. I adhere to all of the Best Practices laid out by the Wisconsin Cottage Food Association. What does that mean? It means that I bake out of my home, which also means that I have to declare that these products are made in a private home not subject to state licensing or inspection.
These bakes will bring joy to your life and your taste buds! Just ask my adorable niece Harper, over there with her happy chocolate face…
And, they are perfect for everyday or special occasions. Pop over to my online shop and take a look for yourself!
If you don’t find quite what you are looking for I also LOVE to do custom orders so don’t hesitate to reach out!
I believe that it is essential to lead through a lens of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. For me, it is a necessity to use these pillars as guideposts as both an individual in the world and as a business owner. My experiences in life, in theatre, and the responsibility I personally carry as a small business owner are some of the factors that have led to these being the perspectives that I approach my work and life through. I view this work and approach as essential and fundamental; it has reframed how I live my life and how I use my voice.
This is why I am creating a Social Justice line of cookies. 100% of the profits from these cookies will go to charities or organizations associated with the individual cookies. What does 100% mean? The only amount kept by Beth’s Bakes will be to cover the cost of the ingredients to make the cookies, the packaging to hold these cookies, and $7.25 to cover one hour of my time at the National Minimum Wage rate in the state of Wisconsin. It definitely takes more than an hour of my time to create these cookies, the rest of that time will be a donation of my own to these important organizations.
So far, this line includes Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ+ Pride cookies. I plan to increase this line in the future.
I, and everyone in my household, have been fully vaccinated against COVID. But, if you would like me to wear a mask that is not a problem at all, please just let me know.
